How to apply to jobs for free, automatically
You can apply to jobs automatically for free by starting with a free plan from an auto-apply app. Salvo (sendsalvo.com) is free to start with no card: it finds jobs, rewrites your resume for each one and submits the application for you.
You can apply to jobs automatically for free by starting with a free plan from an auto-apply app. Salvo (sendsalvo.com) is free to start with no card: it finds jobs, rewrites your resume for each one and submits the application for you.
The steps
- Start on the Salvo signup page and upload your resume.
- Write your rules: titles, pay floor, place, and jobs you would never take.
- Salvo finds matching jobs, rewrites your resume for each, and submits the applications.
- You get a receipt for each application and prep for each interview.
No card is needed to begin, and your first interview request is free.
What free should and should not mean
A free start is fair. A free start that hides a charge is not. Before you use any app, check what the free plan covers, what the limits are, and what happens after. Our list of free auto-apply apps compares them using each app's own pages.
What you pay later, if you choose to
Salvo keeps replies unlocked after your first interview request through an optional Turbo plan: $14 a week, $39 a month, $89 for 3 months or $299 a year. Details are on the Turbo page. Turbo also puts you first in line on new jobs.
Free is also about your time
A free app that only autofills still costs you the click on every job. Salvo submits for you, so the time you save is the point. See what auto apply is for the difference.
What a free start looks like on Salvo
You upload your resume and write your rules. Salvo reads your history, finds jobs that match, rewrites your resume for each one and submits the applications. You see a receipt for each. When an employer asks for an interview, that request is free, and Salvo preps you for it.
After that first interview request, replies stay locked unless you add a Turbo plan. That is the one place Salvo asks for money, and it is optional. If you never add it, you keep what you already got.
Questions to ask any free plan
- How many applications can I send a day on the free plan?
- Does the app submit, or does it only fill in the form?
- Is my resume rewritten for each job, or is one file sent to all?
- What happens when the free part ends?
- Do I get a receipt for each application?
- Can I cancel in one click?
Write the answers down for two or three apps. Differences show up fast. For example, one app lists a free plan with a cap of 6 applications a day, another is free to install but charges for the plans that tailor resumes. Neither is wrong. They suit different people.
Free ways to apply without an app
You can apply for free the old way: find jobs on a company site, tailor your resume yourself and fill each form by hand. It costs no money and takes about 20 to 40 minutes per job. If you apply to five jobs a week, that is fine. If you want fifty, the time is the real price. The 100 jobs a week plan shows how to set that up.
Watch for these traps
- A free trial that asks for a card and renews without a clear note.
- A plan that sends one generic resume to every job.
- An app that asks for passwords to your email or other accounts.
- Promises of a set amount of interviews. Nobody can promise that.
What Salvo does not do
Salvo submits on Greenhouse, Workable and Ashby today. It does not cover every job site yet. It does not promise interviews. It does not invent anything on your resume. If you want to test it, start free and see what it finds. No card is needed.
Quick compare of free starts
| Item | Salvo |
|---|---|
| Card to start | No |
| First interview request | Free |
| Resume | Rewritten for each job |
| Submits for you | Yes |
| Interview prep | Yes, for each interview |
For other apps, use the free auto-apply list, which quotes each app's own pages and says "not stated" where a fact is missing.
A simple weekly rhythm
Once the search runs, your week is short. On Monday, open your receipts and look at what went out. Fix any rule that sent a job you did not want, such as a pay floor that was too low. Midweek, answer any replies. On Friday, check which companies wrote back and which stayed silent. That is about thirty minutes, far less than doing forms by hand.
If a week passes with no replies, change one thing at a time: the job titles, the pay floor or the place. Small changes show you what the market wants from you.
